Prepared for EON Energy

You already power their journey.
Now protect it.

Warrantywise proposes a commercial partnership: EV‑specific vehicle protection, offered to the drivers who already trust EON to keep them charged.

The opportunity

The relationship already exists

EON already owns the moment of trust: drivers plug in at home, at work or on the road, and EON is the name on the app and the bill. That relationship currently ends at the electron.

Manufacturer EV warranties typically run out at 3 years or 60,000 miles. Most owners keep their car for 5 to 8 years — which means the average EON charging customer will, at some point, own an EV with no cover on its most expensive components.

£2,000–£8,000+ Illustrative range for an out-of-warranty battery, motor or power-electronics repair on an EV — figures for discussion, not a quoted policy cost.

The gap

Right now, that anxiety has nowhere to go

An EON customer whose battery health starts to worry them has no obvious next step. EON doesn't sell them anything for it. So they either do nothing and stay anxious, or they buy cover from a generic warranty reseller who wasn't built for high-voltage systems and doesn't know they're an EON customer at all.

That's a customer touchpoint EON is currently giving away for free.

The partner

Warrantywise: EV protection built by people who understand EV

Warrantywise is a UK vehicle warranty specialist, working with FCA‑regulated underwriting partners to provide cover built around EV and hybrid drivetrains rather than adapted from petrol-era policy wording.

  • EV-specific coverBattery pack, motor, inverter, onboard charger and power electronics — the parts a standard warranty often excludes or misunderstands.
  • EV-trained assessorsClaims handled by people who know what a healthy state-of-health reading looks like, not generalists learning on the job.
  • A partnership-first modelBuilt to sit inside another brand's customer journey — co-branded, low-lift, and designed not to compete with EON for the relationship.

How it would work

Five points in EON's world. One protected driver.

The proposed product — EON DriveGuard, powered by Warrantywise — would be offered at the moments EON already owns, not through a separate sales channel.

EON Drive appA protection prompt after charging sessions or on the vehicle profile screen
New charger installsA natural follow-up once a home charger is fitted
Billing & statementsA single line offer on the monthly energy statement
Customer serviceAn option agents can offer during EV-related calls
Renewal & win-backCover offered at the point manufacturer warranty is known to lapse
Quote, bind, claimHandled end-to-end by Warrantywise, under the co-brand
EON customer data stays with EON — Warrantywise receives only what's needed to quote and fulfil.

The business case

What this is worth, in EON's own numbers

Move the sliders to model this against EON's actual EV charging customer base. Every figure below recalculates live.

Active EV charging customers500,000
Attach rate — % who take out cover2.0%
Average annual commission per policy£45
10,000Policies sold per year
£450,000Annual referral revenue to EON

Illustrative and fully adjustable. Final assumptions to be modelled jointly using EON's real customer and charging-session data — not published figures.

Why this works for EON

A new revenue line that reinforces the brand, not one that dilutes it

Non-energy revenueCommission income with no capital outlay and no impact on regulated tariff activity
EON keeps the relationshipWarrantywise sits behind the co-brand as underwriter and claims handler
Full-journey positioningPower, hardware and now protection — a more complete answer than a charging tariff alone
RetentionA customer with a protection policy tied to their EON account has one more reason not to switch supplier
